Who said staging can’t take place in the laundry room?
Staging, a necessary homework piece of listing your home, does not have to be limited to the obvious. I love creating cute little vignettes around the house that above all, create a smile, a laugh, or a sweet sentiment with the buyer. Kind of a romantic gesture from a home, alluding to the life a buyer may have, if they were to be the next lucky ones to live, laugh & love in this home.
One client had a tarnished, vintage tea set sitting next to her laundry sink. She wasn’t quite sure why it was even there. Maybe she was going to clean it one day. Put it on the to do list and all. On the other side of the sink, a plastic container was full of wooden pegs. This laundry room was nothing short of bad ass, with heaps of java stained cabinets, counter space, and a drying rack built in. So she actually used the pegs a lot. A simple rearrangement (read: hide the plastic tubs) of the pegs, and a dash of Epsom salts with some rosemary in the creamer, and this boring old chore room started to scream “vintage chic laundry, labored with love here”. Who would have thought?!
Remember “in the olden days” when you did have to scoop powdered detergent into your washing machine, or bucket of water in the sink to soak? Remember “in the olden days” when there were no HOAs, so you actually used these pegs all the time to hang your laundry on the clothes line in the back yard to dry? A little romantic nostalgia never hurt anybody, right?!
Just thought I would share a little fun snippet of fun I like to have with staging. It doesn’t have to be by the book or boring. What do you think?!
